Body removed from house in Homestead

House catches fire shortly after midnight

HOMESTEAD, Fla. – A body was removed from a Homestead home just before 7 a.m. Tuesday, hours after a fire burned inside.

Before sunrise, Homestead police, Miami-Dade Fire Rescue and an arson investigator arrived at the house off Krome Terrace and Southwest Sixth Street.

Miami-Dade police said the fire started just after midnight. After firefighters extinguished the flames, they found a body inside.

The victim's identity wasn't immediately known, but Frank Reditt told Local 10 News reporter Ben Kennedy that the victim was his girlfriend.

"I met her about seven years ago," Reditt said.

"I feel sad because I've known her for a few years," the victim's neighbor, Eddie Pinillos said. "This is just tearing me up."
