Gold teeth help victim identify attacker in Fort Lauderdale
Christopher Mackey, 35, faces sexual battery charge in Aug. 3rd attack
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – It took a week for law enforcement to catch Christopher Mackey, after he pulled out a knife on a woman, police said Tuesday.
Mackey, 35, allegedly forced the woman into an abandoned building, where he attacked her in Fort Lauderdale.
He has a criminal history that includes charges of cocaine possession and drug paraphernalia. He has been in and out of prison since 2002 and was last released on Christmas Eve on 2013.
This time "he was taken into custody for an active warrant for violation of probation originating from a previous grand theft charge," Fort Lauderdale Detective Keven Dupree said.
His alleged victim said she remembered his two gold teeth and the scar under his left eye. And Broward Sheriff's Office crime lab technicians found his DNA at the crime scene.
Mackey was charged with one count of sexual battery with a weapon and one count of kidnapping to commit or facilitate a felony.
