Mother of 2 shot while sleeping inside northwest Miami-Dade home
Martha Delcid, 35, taken to JMH in critical condition
MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – A mother of two was shot shortly after midnight Wednesday while sleeping inside her home in northwest Miami-Dade County, police confirmed.
Bullet holes riddled the home at Northwest 101st Street and Second Avenue, and at least one bullet went through a glass window.
A pickup truck parked in the driveway of the home was also filled with bullets.
Neighbors told Local 10 News crime specialist John Turchin that the victim, Martha Delcid, 35, has a 7-year-old and 9-year-old daughter.
Police said five people were inside the home at the time of the shooting, including the two girls. Delcid was the only person who was injured.
She was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital, where she is listed in critical condition.
Neighbors said Delcid recently separated from a man with whom she had previous arguments.
Detectives said they were investigating those claims, but no person of interest has been named.
