Stolen car crashes into Pompano Beach pool

Driver sought after crash

POMPANO BEACH, Fla. – A Pompano Beach homeowner was startled by the sound of a car crashing into her backyard pool early Tuesday morning.

Gracie Medee told Local 10 News reporter Ben Kennedy that she heard a splash about 4:30 a.m., ran outside and saw a car in her 6-foot-deep swimming pool. However, the driver had already left the scene.

Broward Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Veda Coleman-Wright said the car was reported stolen.

BSO deputies believe the driver was speeding before the car crashed through two fences and almost hit the home at Northwest 21st Street and Northwest Second Terrace.

Deputies continue to search for the driver. No injuries were reported.
