Man crossing Commercial Boulevard struck, killed by pickup truck

Louis Ninan, 65, wasn't in crosswalk, deputies say


TAMARAC, Fla. – A man was killed Wednesday morning when he was struck by a truck while crossing a street in Tamarac, the Broward Sheriff's Office confirmed.

Deputies said Louis Ninan, 65, was crossing Commercial Boulevard about 6:15 a.m. outside the designated crosswalk area when he stepped into the path of an oncoming Ford F-150 in the eastbound lanes.

Tamarac paramedics took Ninan to Broward Health Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Deputies said the driver of the pickup truck, Robert Herot, 68, stayed at the scene and was not injured.

Herot was not charged in the crash.
