HOLLYWOOD, Fla. – A woman whose name is the same as a popular Prince song and film has been arrested on drug possession charges in South Florida.
Purple Rain, 38, was arrested Tuesday by Hollywood police.

Online jail records show that Rain faces charges of possession of cocaine, possession of "flakka" and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was being held Wednesday morning in a Broward County jail on $2,000 bond.

Prince's 1984 ballad "Purple Rain" was included in Rolling Stone's list of the 500 greatest songs of all time and reached No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in November 1984, just behind Wham's "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go."
The song was released on the soundtrack to a movie starring Prince by the same name. The film won an Academy Award for best original song score.
Rain's parents couldn't have foreseen their daughter's ties to the Prince song when they named her. After all, Rain was born in 1977. She would have already been 7 years old at the time.
Contrary to the song's lyrics, it's doubtful that Prince has any interest in seeing her bathing in the purple rain.
