Renters likely displaced following Miami Beach apartment fire

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. – Miami Beach authorities said the people who lived in two apartments could be displaced, following a fire at an apartment building near 14th Street and Euclid Avenue early Friday morning.

A Public Information Officer for Miami Beach Police told Local 10 that firefighters were alerted to the building fire at about 2 a.m. The caller reported seeing smoke coming from the building.

The apartment was evacuated; upon arrival, firefighters extinguished the flames and found significant smoke damage in the unit where the fire may have started.

Crews also said an adjacent apartment unit may have been damaged in the fire, and they did not find anyone in either unit.

Firefighters said no injuries were reported, and everyone who was evacuated was allowed to return to the building.

The Florida Fire Marshal's Office and police arson investigators were expected to continue the investigation into the fire's cause.
