Store clerk fatally shot at Stop N Go in North Lauderdale

Clerk shot multiple times during armed robbery

NORTH LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Broward Sheriff's Office deputies are investigating a fatal shooting at a North Lauderdale convenience store.

The shooting was reported shortly after 6 a.m. Friday at the Stop N Go on Bailey Road.

BSO spokeswoman Gina Carter said the victim was shot multiple times. He was taken to Broward Health Medical Center in Fort Lauderdale, where he was pronounced dead.

Carter said the motive for the shooting was an armed robbery.

"The store clerk was in the process of opening up the store when he was ambushed by multiple suspects," Carter told Local 10 News.

Carter said the victim was a longtime clerk at the store.

A witness told Local 10 that the victim ran out of the parking lot and collapsed in the grass.

The victim's identity has not been released pending notification of next of kin.
