Suspect was arrested at MIA for heroin possession

MIAMI – A man who escaped Homeland Security agents in downtown Miami was taken back into custody Thursday night, according to Miami Police. 

The man had been arrested at Miami International Airport on suspicion of heroin possession after arriving on a flight from Colombia, according to federal authorities. He escaped while being transported to a detention center. 

A perimeter was established near Miami-Dade College's Wolfson Campus to search for him. He was later found, still in handcuffs, near the Hard Rock Cafe at Bayside Marketplace, Miami police said. 

He will face escape charges, in addition to those he was originally arrested for, sources tell Local 10 News.
