Body found floating in Tamarac canal

BSO spokeswoman says man partially dressed in blue jeans, socks

TAMARAC, Fla. ā€“ A man's body was found floating in a Tamarac canal Thursday morning.

Broward Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Gina Carter said deputies were called to reports of a body floating in the lake near Northwest 91st Avenue.

A view from Sky 10 showed what appeared to be a man's body floating face down in the water.

"Detectives right now are not seeing any obvious signs of trauma to the body, but that does not mean that this death is not suspicious," Carter said. "Right now, they really have to follow every lead and get every angle."

Carter said the body was of a man in his early 30s. She said the man was partially dressed in blue jeans and socks.

"(There is) never ever any crime in this area," Mike Sweeney, who lives in the area, said. "This is a total shock to us, so I certainly hope they found out what happened quickly."

Detectives are investigating, but Carter said foul play is not suspected.
