Police searching for man who tried to kill father, set house on fire

HOMESTEAD, Fla. – Homestead police are searching for a man who they said tried to kill his father by setting him on fire inside their home Saturday morning.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue and Homestead police were called to a house fire on Northwest 17th Street.

Detective Fernando Morales said Tabias Rollins, 38, got into a domestic dispute with his 64-year-old father. Morales said Rollins doused his father with gasoline before setting him on fire. 

When police arrived at the home, Rollins had already left. Police said he drove off in a white 2000 Cadillac DeVille with a black top.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue airlifted the father to Kendall Regional Medical Center, where he was listed in critical condition.
