Crooks break through roof at Esther's Restaurant, raid ATM

Employees arrive to find Miami restaurant in disarray

MIAMI – Police are investigating after a Miami restaurant was burglarized by thieves who broke in through the ceiling.

Miami police were called to Esther's Restaurant on Northwest Seventh Avenue early Tuesday morning after employees arrived to find the business in disarray.

A manager told Local 10 News that $120 in cash was taken from an ATM inside the restaurant. The thieves appeared to have gone after the register, which had been emptied the night before.

Ceiling tiles had been moved where the burglars made their way inside.

Surveillance video showed blurry images of several people moving through the restaurant about 3:15 a.m.

The vendor who operates the ATM said it will cost the restaurant $2,500 to replace. The damage to the roof cost about $3,000 to fix.
