Thieves break into numerous cars in Deerfield Beach

2 handguns among items stolen

The Broward Sheriff's Office is searching for a group of burglars captured on surveillance video breaking into cars in Deerfield Beach.

The thieves, who are possibly teenagers, broke into at least seven cars Dec. 10 in the Waterford neighborhood, BSO spokeswoman Gina Carter said.

Carter said the group made off with various items, including power tools, computer equipment and two handguns.

One of the thieves was also captured on security cameras approaching a Deerfield Beach home Monday. Carter said he riffled through the victim's car but did not take anything.

Anyone with information about the burglaries is asked to call Detective Jennifer Seals at 954-480-4289 or Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS. A reward of up to $3,000 is being offered for information that leads to an arrest and conviction.
