As many as eight law enforcement agencies, including the FBI, had been trying to identify the serial robber. Authorities said in each incident, the robber would lift up his shirt, displaying a gun, and demand cash and cigarettes.

Among the stores Turner is believed to have robbed are a Publix in Delray Beach, a Winn-Dixie in Jensen Beach, a Publix in Martin County and a Winn-Dixie in Port St. Lucie. He is also a suspect in a Dec. 10 robbery in Wilton Manors.

"Through investigative means, our deputies were able to locate Mr. Turner and conduct a traffic stop on him that led to the identification of clothing that matched that of the suspect in recent robberies," St. Lucie County Sheriff Ken Mascara said. "A handgun matching the description of the one used in the robberies was also recovered."

Turner was arrested on two counts of armed robbery, but the St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office said more charges are pending.
