Woman narrowly avoids SUV, gets struck, killed by cab

Donna Behari, 51, appeared to be unsteady on feet, authorities say

OAKLAND PARK, Fla. – A woman was struck and killed by a cab Thursday night in Oakland Park after she was staggering in the roadway while narrowly missing an SUV, Broward Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Keyla Concepcion said.

The incident was reported about 9:40 p.m. near the 2100 block of West Oakland Park Boulevard.

Concepcion said Donna Behari, 52, had made numerous attempts to cross Oakland Park Boulevard and was not in a crosswalk. She said Behari also appeared to be unsteady on her feet.

According to detectives, the cab was driving behind the cab driver, Frimans Pierre, 37, who wasn't able to avoid the crash.

Pierre remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation. Concepcion said speed is not considered to be a factor in the crash and no charges will be filed.
