Car crashes into strip mall in Sunrise

No injuries reported

SUNRISE, Fla. – A woman accidentally drove into a business at a strip mall Monday morning, a Sunrise Fire Rescue representative said.

The crash was reported at an Auto Tag & Insurance business at 10117 Sunset Strip.

Sky 10 was above the scene just before 10:30 a.m. The car had already been towed away, but shattered glass from the storefront remained on the ground and police tape blocked off the area, which is next door to a preschool.

Local10 News reporter Jenise Fernandez spoke to the driver, who said she had bought a Volkswagen two days ago and was there to get her vehicle insured. She said she was attempting to park when she accidentally pressed the accelerator.

"It's so hard. Thank God I didn't hurt anybody," Isa Elfeky said. "I was coming to do the insurance at the insurance company, but this happened."

Employees were inside the business at the time of the crash,  but no one was injured.
