Tri-Rail train stopped on tracks after crash


DANIA BEACH, Fla. – A Tri-Rail train struck a pedestrian Monday afternoon in Dania Beach.

The crash occurred on the Tri-Rail tracks near Griffin Road and Anglers Avenue, west of Interstate 95.

South Florida Regional Transportation Authority spokeswoman Bonnie Arnold said there were 100 passengers on the train when it struck the 73-year-old man. He was taken to a hospital, but his condition was not immediately known.

The train was stopped on the tracks after the crash.

Griffin Road was closed in both directions during the crash investigation.

A shuttle service was being provided between the Sheridan Street and Fort Lauderdale stations.
