Coral Springs police searching for robber of black Kia

A man told police a brazen car robber took off with his car and a girl who was inside.

Delroy Booth, who is the girl's stepfather, was at at the Sunoco gas station at 7801 West Sample Road in Coral Springs.

He left the keys in the ignition and walked away from the car to pay for gas.

"Someone just stole my car with my daughter inside," Booth, 26, said calmly during a 911 call police released Monday.

Jeniyah Booth, 6, was in the back seat when the man drove away in the black 2012 Kia Optima in Coral Springs.

"He said, 'Get out of the car,' and she just ran," Yahikie Coombs, Jeniyah's mom, said.

Jeniyah, who is in first grade, turned up in a residential area about 10 blocks away eastbound. A woman who was driving spotted her alone, pulled over, comforted her and called police,  Coombs said.

The girl later told police and relatives that the man who stole the car Friday "looked like a kid." Police were still looking for him Monday and were asking anyone with information to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
