Owner tries to fight gunman during CB Wireless robbery

Surveillance video shows owner lunge at gunman

NORTH MIAMI, Fla. – Police have released surveillance video of a man who was pistol-whipped during a robbery at a North Miami wireless store.

The armed robbery was reported Monday morning at a CB Wireless in the Shoprite Center on the corner of Northwest 119th Street and Northwest Seventh Avenue.

Surveillance video released Tuesday showed one of the men roaming the store, acting as a customer, when another man entered and pulled a gun on the owner behind the counter.

The owner gave the gunman cash from the register while the other man acted as a lookout.

However, when the gunman dropped some cash on the floor, the owner swung open the door to the counter and lunged at him.

A struggle ensued, and the owner was repeatedly struck in the head with the gun. The robbers left after someone from a neighboring barber shop opened the door and scared them away.

North Miami police said both men were seen running west on Northwest 120th Street.

The owner was later seen with a bandage on his head. He was taken to a hospital, where he was treated and released.

Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call police or Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
