Winning Powerball ticket sold in Melbourne Beach

Ticket one of three tickets to match Wednesday night's drawing

PEMBROKE PARK, Fla. – Florida Lottery officials confirm one of the three tickets that matched Wednesday night's Powerball drawing was sold in Melbourne Beach.

The lucky winner's share of the jackpot is $528,784,000 with a lump-sum cash option of $327.8 million.

The winning ticket was sold at the Publix at Driftwood Plaza, a shopping center along South A1A.

"We don't know who that is yet, it is probably a customer that shops all the time," Publix employee Dwaine Stevens said.

"I can't wait to find out who the person is, I hope it's a friend..hello," Gerelyn Adcock, who bought Powerball tickets from the same Publix said.

Several media outlets, including Local 10 News, received a tip saying that a woman who lived in Harbor East was the Florida Powerball winner, but a police officer standing guard outside her home claimed it wasn't true.

"She did not win the Powerball, that's what she told me," the officer said.

Florida was one of three states where winning tickets were sold. Two others that matched all of the numbers were sold in Chino Hills, Calif. and Tipton, Tenn. The people who bought the tickets will split the $1.58 billion jackpot.

Early Thursday morning, the Florida Lottery tweeted that in addition to the jackpot prize, 11 $1 million tickets and one $2 million ticket were sold in the state.

None of the winners' identities have yet been revealed.
