Suspect tries to swallow bag of cocaine during traffic stop

PALATKA, Fla. – The Putnam County Sheriff's Office arrested 12 people on numerous drug charges during crime suppression patrols in the Palatka area Friday evening.

During the first hour of the operation deputies pulled over Timothy Wiggins, 23. The Sheriff's Office says an odor of marijuana was coming from the car. During a search of the car a bag of marijuana and two small bags of crack cocaine were found. The Sheriff's Office says an additional bag of marijuana was found on Wiggins.

The Sheriff's Office says while deputies were searching the car, Wiggins attempted to swallow a small bag of cocaine. Deputies were able to recover the cocaine. 

Wiggins was arrested and charged with possession of cocaine, possession of marijuana under 20 grams, possession of drug paraphernalia, resisting an officer without violence, and tampering and destroying evidence.
