A Miami-Dade County Public Schools representative said all students were evacuated from the school as a precaution.

Sky 10 was above the scene as children were sitting on a basketball court outside the school. They were escorted back inside at 1:25 p.m.

Miami Beach police said school would be dismissed at its regular time.

Police did not immediately disclose the contents of the backpack.
