HOMESTEAD, Fla. – The Florida City Police Department has made an arrest in the shooting of Martwan Santiago, 14, on Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

Police said Adrian Harris, 41, of Homestead, was arrested shortly after 4 p.m. Friday at his home. Police found the car that was seen leaving the area of the shooting and a handgun that matches the caliber of evidence found at the scene.

Harris is charged with attempted felony murder, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, aggravated assault with a firearm, shooting a deadly missile into an occupied dwelling and discharging a firearm in publish.

Santiago was airlifted to Nicklaus Children's Hospital after he was shot three times in the 1300 block of Northwest Eighth Place in Florida City, police said. Officer Ken Armenteros said the teenager was a gang member.

Santiago is in the intensive care unit of the hospital. Armenteros said the teen will be questioned after he's recovered from his injuries.

The incident is still under investigation, so more charges may be filed against Harris.
