Teen arrested in fatal northwest Miami-Dade shooting

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – A 17-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting in northwest Miami-Dade County.

Jordan Baez was arrested Saturday by Miami-Dade police detectives, with the help of Boynton Beach police and the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office.

According to an arrest warrant, the victim, Victor Jones, 45, and an acquaintance were standing outside Jones' home Jan. 19, when Baez approached them and began shooting.

Jones was the only one struck and he was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center, where he was pronounced dead, detectives said.

Baez faces multiple charges, including second-degree murder, attempted murder and discharging a firearm in public or on residential property.

A motive for the shooting is unclear.
