Bomb threat reported at Marathon High School unfounded, authorities say

Deputies search classrooms; find no harmful devices


MARATHON, Fla. – A bomb threat that was reported Tuesday at Marathon High School was unfounded, Monroe County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Becky Herrin said.

According to Herrin, students and employees at the school were evacuated as a precautionary measure while deputies and officers from several different agencies searched each classroom.

Herrin said no devices were found at the school, and authorities are continuing to investigate who made the false bomb threat.

Students and faculty have been allowed to return to their classrooms.
