POMPANO BEACH, Fla. – Elvis the horse is recovering nicely after being injured during this morning's severe weather.

The 17-year-old steed was in his Pompano Beach stable when the storms rolled in over Broward County in the early morning hours.

A hinge torn off by the strong winds punctured Elvis on his left side.

Veterinarians called after the injury was discovered treated Elvis on the scene with at least 30 stitches over the wound.

Elvis' owner, Janice Sheer, says that the barrel racing horse was quickly standing up and eating following the medical procedure and is expected to make a complete recovery.
