Woman caught with cocaine in vagina at New York airport

Shekira Thompson arrested after flight from Jamaica to JFK International Airport

PEMBROKE PARK, Fla. – A woman was arrested last weekend at a New York airport after she tried to smuggle cocaine in her vagina, a U.S. Customs and Border Protection spokesman said Friday.

Shekira Thompson was arrested Sunday at John F. Kennedy International Airport.

CBP spokesman Anthony Bucci said Thompson was questioned by officers after she arrived on a flight from Kingston, Jamaica.

Bucci said Thompson admitted to inserting about a half-pound of cocaine into her vagina.

"This seizure is just another example of our CBP officers being ever vigilant in protecting the United States from the distribution of these illicit drugs," Robert E. Perez, director of the CBP's New York field operations, said in a statement.

Thompson faces narcotics smuggling charges.
