Injured pelican saved by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue

Bird was treated at Pelican Harbor Seabird Station

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – An injured pelican is recovering at the Pelican Harbor Seaside Station after being rescued by the Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Monday.

A good Samaritan called the Pelican Harbor Seabird Station after finding the bird, which had a broken wing and had an open wound, near the Port of Miami.

A Miami-Dade fireboat crew then found the pelican and transported it to the Pelican Harbor Seabird Station to receive treatment.  

The pelican is one of more than 400 injured pelicans that the Pelican Harbor Seabird Station receives every year.
