DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Animal control officers in Volusia County are investigating on Tuesday a Facebook post that shows a picture with a dog's mouth taped shut.

Daytona Beach police said officers are aware of the post and are trying to identify the person responsible for the act and determine if any charges should be filed.

No other details were immediately available from police.

The Daytona Beach News-Journal reports that the photo was posted on Sunday to the dog's owner's Facebook page.

The posting comes months after a South Daytona police investigation into another picture posted on Facebook in November showed a dog with duct tape wrapped tightly around its mouth.

The picture sparked outrage on social media and led to a woman being charged with animal cruelty.
