Bank employee outsmarts armed men in Little Havana

2 men sought in shooting at bank parking lot

MIAMI – A man walked out of a red Nissan Altima and began to shoot up into the air at a parking lot in Miami's Little Havana neighborhood on Friday afternoon, police said.

He was shouting that he was going to rob the Regions Bank, 2800 NW 7 St., near Kesington Park Elementary School.

His accomplice, the driver of the car, rushed inside the lobby area where the automatic teller machine is. But a bank employee was faster than them.

"One of this employees from inside the bank was astute enough to lock those doors," Miami police spokesperson Kenia Fallat said.

Once the two men noticed the doors of the bank were locked, they rushed back into the car and fled.

Surveillance video shows one of the men up close. Police were looking for them and were asking anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477.
