The attempted abduction took place around 6:30 a.m. as the young girl was walking in the area of Northwest 103rd Street and Seventh Avenue, near a Bravo Supermarket.

A man in a black Chevrolet S-10 pulled up by the girl, stopped his pickup and asked her if she could help him fix his truck before grabbing her and forcing her into the pickup, police said.

The girl was able to break free from the man, police said, and the driver fled the scene.

Police said the investigation is ongoing.
