MIAMI ā A former actor for Spanish-language variety show "Sabado Gigante" was on trial Thursday for the second day to face accusations that he possessed child pornography.
Adonis Losada, 52, is most famous for cross-dressing as an older woman on the hit show, which was canceled last year.
He is facing multiple counts of possession of child pornography.
A Miami-Dade County judge directly addressed members of Losada's family on Thursday. The state claims that family members tried to approach a Miami-Dade police detective, who was a witness in the case, to pressure her to "tell the truth."
The judge reminded the family that it is illegal for them to have any contact with witnesses during the trial.
An undercover Broward sheriff's deputy, who posed as the stepfather of a girl in a child pornography chat room, testified Thursday.
The defense attorney first questioned Detective Arnaldo Barrionuevo, who has since retired, who was then questioned by the state.
"You were lying when you said you were married?" the prosecutor asked the detective.
"That is correct," Barrionuevo said.
"You were lying when you said you had a stepdaughter?" the prosecutor asked.
"Correct," he said.
"You were lying when you said you were having sex with her?" the prosecutor asked.
"Correct," Barrionuevo said.
"You've never been to Costa Rica to have sex with little boys or little girls?" the prosecutor asked.
"No," the detective said.
When asked why he lied to the defendant during the investigation, Barrionuevo said: "I had to act the part and be the part so that particular person that is involved in that type of situation trusts you."
The jury heard audio recordings and phone calls Wednesday between the undercover detective and Losada.
They also saw secret recordings of Losada viewing images of child pornography.
On Thursday, the jurors were given the opportunity to view some of the graphic child pornography that Losada is accused of viewing. All appeared to be disturbed, with most choosing not to look at the images.
Losada was previously convicted on child pornography charges in May 2014 in Palm Beach County. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison in that case.
