MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – Firefighters extinguished a fire Friday at a townhome in northwest Miami-Dade County.

The fire was reported Friday afternoon at a home at Northwest 195th Street and 53rd Avenue.

Rachel Ortiz told Local 10 News that she was home with her daughter and dog when it happened. She said the Paul Bange Roofing company was working on her roof and the fire started about 10 minutes after they left.

Ortiz said her neighbor warned the family and they got out safely. No injuries were reported.

Sky 10 was above the scene at 5 p.m. and saw flames starting to spread to some of the adjacent townhomes, but Fire Rescue crews were able to get it under control.

Ortiz said most of the damage was sustained in the back of the townhome. One other townhome suffered damage.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The Ortiz family is staying at a nearby hotel.
