MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – Three people were taken to area hospitals Tuesday after a tractor-trailer lost control on the Palmetto Expressway and hit a minivan, Miami-Dade Fire Rescue said.
The vehicles were traveling in the southbound lanes of the Palmetto Expressway, between Northwest 36th Street and Northwest 58th Street, about 8:30 p.m. when the driver of the tractor-trailer lost control, Miami-Dade Fire Rescue spokeswoman Erika Benitez said.
Rescue crews found the driver of a white minivan pinned under the dashboard and two injured passengers, Benitez said.
Crews were able to free the driver, who was taken to an area hospital, Benitez said. The two passengers were also taken to area hospitals.
The Palmetto Expressway was shut down temporarily after the crash.
The cause of the crash is still unknown.
