Plainclothes detectives capture robber, want to speak to victims

Police want to speak to victims to file proper charges

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Two plainclothes Fort Lauderdale detectives were able to capture a man they witnessed robbing a senior couple Tuesday afternoon. Now, police are asking for that couple to come forward in order to press the appropriate charges. 

The incident took place about 12:45 p.m. when the two plainclothes detectives saw a man forcefully take a piece of jewelry from a senior couple being robbed in the 1700 Block of East Sunrise Boulevard, police said.

The detectives pursued the man and took him into custody, a police report said. However, the couple, who are believed to be tourists who were frightened by the plainclothes detectives, had already left the area at that point. 

The Fort Lauderdale Police Department is asking for the victims to come forward in order for proper charges to be filed against the robber, police said.
