American Airlines flight to Miami diverted due to disruptive passenger

Flight 1006 from Boston lands safely in Charleston, South Carolina

MIAMI – An American Airlines flight that was headed to Miami from Boston was diverted Wednesday afternoon due to a disruptive passenger, authorities said.

The pilot of Flight 1006 was heard on air traffic control asking for police to meet the plane at the tarmac to remove the passenger from the flight.

Officials said the plane, which departed Logan International Airport at 4:56 p.m., landed safely in Charleston, South Carolina.

Miami International Airport's flight information said the plane should now land in Miami at 6:50 p.m.

Further details about the passenger were not immediately released.
