Woman, 2 children struck by car in Miramar

Police say driver arrested after attempting to get away

MIRAMAR, Fla. – A woman was arrested after she struck another woman and two children with her car Saturday in Miramar, police said.

Jessica Crane, 39, faces three counts of failure to remain at an accident involving serious injury.

Crane faced a judge Sunday morning as her bond was set at $40,000.

Miramar police spokeswoman Tania Rues said Crane was driving a gray Infiniti that was traveling south on University Boulevard near Pembroke Road when it jumped a curb and struck a woman and her two children, ages 5 and 3.

Witnesses said they saw the car weaving in and out of traffic before slamming into the woman and her children. They said the woman who was struck appeared to be pregnant.

Rues said Crane tried to get away, but she was followed by multiple witnesses.

One of those witnesses, Ramon Rodriguez, was able to block her car and confront her on Miramar Parkway.

The woman and two children, whose names have not been released, were taken to Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood. The children were not seriously injured, but their mother remained in critical condition Sunday night.
