Armed robbers smash jewelry cases in Plantation store, police say

Surveillance video shows men attempting to enter jewelry store in same plaza

PLANTATION, Fla. – Police are searching for two men who robbed a store at gunpoint over the weekend in Plantation.

The robbery was reported just after 2 p.m. Saturday at the Footprints boutique, which is located inside a shopping plaza at 240 S. University Drive.

According to police, one of the men inquired about merchandise inside the jewelry cases and the other man pulled out a rifle-type gun and ordered the customers to the back of the store.

Police said the men smashed the jewelry cases and stole an undisclosed amount of merchandise.

No property was taken from the customers.

Police said the robbers were captured on surveillance video just before the incident, ringing the doorbell at Wilner's Jewelers, which is in the same shopping plaza.

The men were not granted access to the store.

Police said they were also captured on surveillance video walking in front of Marion's Bagels.

No injuries were reported.
