Teens accused of threatening victim before ATV chase in southwest Miami-Dade

Suspects arrested on charges of aggravated assault, fleeing and eluding police

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – Three 16-year-old boys were arrested Wednesday after threatening someone at South Dade Park and then leading police on a chase on their ATVs, authorities said.

According to Miami-Dade police, the suspects, identified as Brian Ponce, Zachary Rivero and Oscar Miranda, confronted somebody at the park with whom they had a previous dispute.

Police said one of the suspects pulled a gun out and threatened the victim.

The victim ran into a recreational building and a witness called 911, police said.

Detectives said the teens took off on their ATVs in different directions when officers arrived.

Two of the teens were arrested quickly by Miami-Dade police officers, but the third led police on a chase that ended in Homestead, authorities said.

Sky 10 was above the west side of Homestead General Aviation Airport near 288th Street just before 3 p.m. as the last suspect was ordered to the ground at gunpoint and taken into custody.

The teens are expected to be charged with aggravated assault with a firearm and fleeing and eluding police.
