Suspect arrested after crashing car, police say

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – A man was arrested Tuesday morning after he stole a Mercedes-Benz from a car dealership in Fort Lauderdale, police said.

According to authorities, the man stole the Mercedes S550  from a dealership along State Road 84 and Federal Highway.

Police chased the man to Pembroke Road and University Drive in Miramar, where the suspect crashed the car, police said.

Hussein Mansour told Local 10 News that he was sitting in his car when he came face to face with the suspect.

"This guy came from nowhere trying to jump in my car, and he said, 'Please let me in. Please let me in,'" Mansour said. "He was halfway through the window and I say, 'No man, you have to leave. You can't get into my car.'"

Police from various agencies assisted in the search by air and ground for the suspect, who Mansour said was hiding out in nearby bushes.

"They was looking over there with the dog and they caught him," he said.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash, and no officers were injured.

The suspect was taken into custody.
