Firefighters take woman to Jackson Memorial Hospital

MIAMI FIRE RESCUE

MIAMI – A four-door sports utility vehicle flipped upside down on Friday afternoon on the southbound lanes of Interstate 95 near Northwest 17th Street.

A 42-year-old woman was trapped. Her husband freed her arm. But her hand was stuck under the vehicle.

"A good Samaritan who we believe is with the military arrived and applied a tourniquet to help control the bleeding," Miami Fire Rescue Capt. Ignatius Carroll said.

She suffered "serious injuries and her husband sustained road rashes to his arm," Carroll said. 

Paramedics freed the woman and took her to Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center.
