No migrants found in area

HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. – A possible migrant raft washed ashore Hallandale Beach Friday morning, authorities said.

Hallandale Beach Fire Rescue officials said the empty raft, which appears to be made mostly of wood, was found at sea by the U.S. Coast Guard June 18.

It washed ashore Hallandale Beach Friday in the area of 1820 S. Ocean Drive. Authorities said the raft had some supplies in it and a gallon of water.

The U.S. Coast Guard and Hallandale Beach Ocean Rescue searched the waters for any possible migrants.

No migrants have been found.

The raft is expected to be removed by the Department of Public Works for disposal.
