Police also said that the FBI is investigating.

"We are aware of a credible threat towards law enforcement in the South Florida area," FBI Special Agent Michael Leverock said. "As a result, the Southeast Florida Fusion Center issued an officer safety bulletin about the threat this morning. Given this matter is an ongoing investigation, no further information is available."

Law enforcement sources said officers have been instructed not to respond to calls alone as a precaution.
