Body found in Pompano Beach, authorities say

Police say woman was killed

POMPANO BEACH, Fla. – A body was found Tuesday morning in Pompano Beach, authorities said.

The body was found at a commercial business complex at 2703 NW 19th St.

Sky 10 was above the scene at 10:30 a.m. and saw that police had blocked off a section of the parking lot.

Authorities said the body was that of a woman. They said the death was a homicide, but it's unclear how she was killed.

"It's a little scary. You know never know what goes on around here when you leave at night," Darrel Fuller, who works nearby, said.

The body of the African-American woman was found by maintenance workers just next to a nearby lake. Deputies said she was suffering from obvious injuries.

"I'm shocked, to be honest. I'm shocked," nearby resident, Antwan Jones, said.

Workers in the area said the parking lot is quiet at night, making it a good place to conceal a crime. Broward Sheriff's Office divers searched the lake for any possible evidence.

"We're asking for anyone that was in the area who may have seen or heard something suspicious to contact us or Crime Stoppers immediately," BSO spokeswoman Gina Carter said.

The victim's identity has not been released.

A cause of death will be determined by the Medical Examiner's Office.

Anyone with information is asked to call Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS. A reward of up to $3,000 is being offered for information that leads to an arrest and conviction.
