POMPANO BEACH, Fla. – A 14-year-old boy appeared in bond court on Tuesday as he is being charged as an adult for breaking into a home with a gun and pointing it at the occupants during a robbery, deputies said.

Marvin Ruiz was armed when he entered a home in the 1700 block of Northwest 33rd Street in Pompano Beach by breaking a glass window, according to the Broward Sheriff’s Office.

Once inside, Ruiz pointed the gun at the victims and told them to get on the ground, an arrest report stated. While keeping the gun pointed at the victims, Ruiz then let Diago Jaimes, 18, inside the house.

Jaimes then took the gun from Ruiz and told the male victim to show him where the money and jewelry were stored, the report said.

He then took $700 in cash, jewelry and other personal items from the victims, the report said.

The pair then ordered the victims to remain on the ground and fled the home on foot, deputies said. They were then joined by a third man named Luis Cruz.

Ruiz, who was found in a wooded area, and Jaimes were arrested a short time later and identified by the victims, deputies said.

Ruiz was arrested on charges of home invasion robbery, armed burglary of a dwelling and false imprisonment.
