Youth soccer coach arrested on charges of sexual battery on minors

Juan Ramos arrested on 4 counts of sexual battery

PLANTATION, Fla. – The 43-year-old director of coaching and player development for the Plantation Football Club has been arrested on four counts of sexual battery on a victim more than 12 year old but less than 18 years old.

Juan Ramos was arrested Friday by Planation police and is being held without bond at a Broward County detention facility.

The Planation Athletic League indefinitely suspended Ramos on Friday, according to the Sun-Sentinel.

Ramos is also a coaching course instructor at the Florida Youth Soccer Association, where he serves on the player development committee. He is also a scout at U.S. Soccer Federation, according to the Nova Southeastern University website.

He previously coached at American Heritage Plantation and Cypress Bay High School, and played for the Knights of Nova Southeastern University.

(Local 10 News previously reported that Ramos is the current boys varsity soccer coach at Cypress Bay High. School officials say he has not worked for the school since the 2013-2014 school year. We regret the error.)
