Road rage leads to fatal shooting in Miami-Dade, police say

Traffic dispute involves man on ATV, man in vehicle

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – Police believe a fatal shooting Sunday evening in southwest Miami-Dade County may have been an act of road rage.

The shooting was reported about 6 p.m. at Southwest 197th Avenue and Southwest 192nd Street.

Miami-Dade police Detective Dan Ferrin said officers arrived and found a 43-year-old man suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The man, identified as Ricky Enrique Iglesias, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Ferrin said detectives believe the shooting was the result of a traffic dispute between the victim, who was driving an all-terrain vehicle, and another man, identified as Andres Diaz, 57.

Diaz remained at the scene and was questioned by homicide detectives.

Residents told Local 10 News reporter Constance Jones that they weren't shocked about the shooting, and said ATV riders have been causing chaos in their community.

"It's very loud, very destructive," one woman said. "It's just sad and it's something that we kind of like predicted that it was going to happen because it has gotten out of hand."

Police said investigators are working with the State Attorney's Office to determine whether any charges will be filed against Diaz.
