Man leaves partially drunk beer behind after breaking into trailer, deputies say
Zachary Sims, 26, allegedly tells deputy he was trying to visit a friend
MARATHON, Fla. – A 26-year-old man left a partially drunk beer and his sunglasses behind after breaking into a trailer Monday in Marathon, Monroe County sheriff's officials said.
The incident was reported about 3:30 a.m. at the Galway Bay Trailer Park after the victim woke up and discovered that the door to his trailer was open.
The man told deputies that he found several cabinets open, an open can of beer and a pair of sunglasses that weren't his.
A deputy said he saw the suspect, Zachary Sims, in the trailer park when he was sent to investigate the burglary. Sims appeared to be intoxicated and told the deputy that he was looking for his sunglasses, authorities said.
Two other deputies were called in for backup.
Authorities said Sims claimed to be in the trailer park to visit a friend, but said that he was unsure in which trailer his friend lived.
Sims was arrested on a burglary charge.
