4 sentenced to house arrest for sexually assaulting woman after prom

2 will complete boot camp

MIAMI – A group of former seniors at G. Holmes Braddock Senior High School in Miami were sentenced Tuesday to house arrest and community service after they sexually assaulted a 21-year-old woman after their prom in May.

Police said Adrian Machin, Luis Rosello and Julio Fernandez, all 19, and Adan Valdes, 17, were involved in the incident, which was reported May 1 at the Bal Harbour Quarzo luxury boutique hotel.

Machin, Rosello and Valdes were seniors at G. Holmes Braddock Senior High School at the time.

Detectives said Valdes was the first person to sexually assault the woman with the handle of an umbrella while Machin and Fernandez recorded the attack with their cellphones. Police said Rosello was also in the room and watched the woman being assaulted.

According to an arrest report, Rosello and Machin then sexually assaulted the woman with a marijuana cigarette.

Machin and Valdez were sentenced to two years of house arrest and will also have to complete boot camp. Fernandez and Rosello were sentenced to six months of house arrest.

All the men are required to undergo sex offender treatment and therapy and to complete 100 hours of community service.
