'Hey ISIS, you suck' billboard rises in South Florida

Campaign to raise awareness for anti-ISIS Muslims

MIAMI – A new billboard proclaiming that ISIS "sucks" has popped up in South Florida.

The new billboard, located on Interstate 75 just west of State Road 826, proclaims, "Hey ISIS, you suck!!!"

"The billboard condemns terrorism in very clear terms and it specially says 'Hey ISIS, you suck! From, actual Muslims,'" Yasir Billoo, of the Coalition of South Florida Muslim Organizations, said.

He said the purpose of the billboard is clear.

"It's for Muslims. especially Muslims in South Florida, to tell our neighbors, our friends, our co-workers, that Muslims condemn terrorism in very clear terms," Billoo said.

It also quotes a verse from the Quran, which says "Life is scared."

"Muslims have seen an increase in Islamaphobia here  at home, with not just instances of discrimination in our daily lives but our children being bullied at school, our women in hijabs, head scarves and  ethnic clothing (being targeted)," Tehsin Siddiqui, of COSMOS, said.

The billboard is part of a campaign organized by Sound Vision, a public relations firm that is looking to make a distinction between ISIS and Muslims.

"A group of American-Muslim professionals organized like-minded concerned Muslims to raise funds for this campaign," said Mohammad Siddiqi, executive director of Sound Vision. "These are common folks, and the billboard is their declaration of independence from ISIS."

The billboard is similar to those that were placed in Chicago, Phoenix and St. Louis.

"We are one human family," Billoo said. "We should be united against the plague that is terrorism. We are better than this. And the only way we will defeat terrorism is to stay united."
